Alpha Female Friday – Amber Eve

Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.

Definition of an Alpha Female

An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.

She is the brightest star in her constellation.  When an Alpha Female stays true to their authentic selves and their missions they shine.  An Alpha Female puts herself first so that she can fill up her cup and then have more energy for her friends, family, and coworkers. She strives for synergy with the world around her. She knows that work/life harmony is found by staying true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with all the people in her life.

Meet Amber Eve!

How are you an Alpha Female?

I believe I’m an alpha female in the making, my life experiences including being on my own since 17, putting myself through college while working full time and volunteering alongside learning how to adult very early on without much help has made me a strong individual today. Combined with my personality and who I am (different than your average) leads me to believe I’m a young alpha female. I believe in self-improvement, self-growth and always changing for the better and changing situations that make me unhappy or leave me down and this is what alpha females do, they take charge and create a life they want to live and enjoy living.

During January I suffered a sickness and was rock bottom, I believe that taking initiative to pull myself out of that situation gave me strength and was the foundation of becoming an alpha female, seeking guidance/mentorship from other successful alphas help me grow immensely into an achieving young alpha.

I believe I went from a reckless female to an Alpha Female, and I absolutely love this statement because It explains everything so simply yet powerfully for me.

What does work/life harmony look like for you?

For the record, I didn’t know what work/life harmony was until April of this year. I used to work 16-hour shifts regularly between two or even three jobs at some point (all of which I despise). I have a few memories of working 22-hour shifts which were EXTREMELY destructive to my health, I gained weight, got depressed, actually got into a work accident and broke a bone in my finger and one time left me falling asleep while driving and crashing my car. My change point was getting sick and not being able to leave bed or work for three weeks in January of 2016, where I spent a lot of time online seeking information on how to be successful/happy and how to become who you are and change your life.

I’ve noticed most alpha females are self-made and don’t work a job they hate, this has been a theme of mine this year. And this week marks the last time I will step into my dreaded factory job. Living in Quebec and not being bilingual has been a set back so the kinds of jobs I’ve worked have been loud, noisy hard factory ones (typically unsafe and full of chemicals)  or farm ones which are physical demanding (which is okay cause I’m a strong lady) but also unsafe, ever been kicked in the chest by a cow? I have. I’ve been working since 17 terrible, unsatisfying, depressing, hard, exhausting jobs. I finally cut out all these jobs that did not meet my life goals, I simply did not want to be a part of the factory gossip and die a factory worker.

Now I’m actually working in a rather taboo subject of work that’s ‘not suitable for work’. Being a nude model and running an online business, I choose my hours of work. I’m right now implementing a day schedule (which I’ve never done before, I used to stay up late and sleep all day). I start my day off right with fitness, meditation and a Darren Daily mentoring email and any other self-help emails if I have time. I work online for about 4-8 hours anything from social media, advertising, sales, streaming and broadcasting online. The rest of my day I participate in some kind of outdoor activity and walk my puppies. On weekends I typically travel or try to do something with my boyfriend (who lives with me) such as travel and explore new locations (our main activity is hiking together) or try to get a photoshoot done to gain more content for my social media accounts. I also recently picked up karate twice a week which I’ve never done martial arts before in my life, it really helps ground and strengths me at the same time.

I also will be scheduling weekly a day that I don’t touch or look at my phone (social media) since I surround myself with it so much for work I need to take “rest” days so I can reset my balance and focus on myself and my mental health.

What are you most passionate about?

I’m so passionate about change! It’s my driving force. Changing my life and becoming who I am and being fully honest with myself and not holding back or having someone put me down or prevent me from being me, that fires me up in a good way. It’s the best feeling in the world to embrace yourself, and to help others around you see the light. We’re so clogged with the image of what’s “acceptable” and what a “woman” is, and I don’t agree or fit these standards but that doesn’t make me any less of a woman. Rather I’ve taken charge and I’ve done something different and I will become successful at it. I won’t stop there, though, if one day I can inspire at least one lady not to be scared to be true to herself because of society/ family/neighbors then that would be a life goal achieved. I want to help someone one day embrace themselves and to see that it’s okay to be different.

Another thing I passionate about is not being a slave to the system, as in debt free and financially secure (thank you, Dave Ramsey, for the debt snowball). I’m not completely debt free but I want from 45k in debt paying credit cards and car payments and speeding tickets (a lot of them). To a mere 6k student loan left and a couple thousand in savings. I do not title myself anywhere near successful yet, but I’m heading in that direction no doubt. I would love to help people see the trap they’re in “the get a car, get a house, get a family, bills & bills & bills working a terrible unsatisfying job”. Show them how to gain financial security and change the things they are unhappy about.

What are you daily health habits that keep your immune system boosted?

Being a vegetarian I take a multi vitamin daily. I make sure to drink a liter or more of water a day. My new sleep pattern will hopefully help with my energy levels. I workout daily in some kind of way either jogging with my bf and dogs or alone, and stretching/yoga or karate. I’m always trying to be active. I think another thing that impacts your immune system (this might seem weird) is self-love, if you don’t take the time to meditate and calm your thoughts it can spiral out of control and lead to stress/anxiety/insecurity and these actually make you sick in the long run (hair loss and exhaustion) from my past experiences. . Right now with all the choices in making I’m slowly getting over my anxious moments, but if I don’t take the time daily to focus on what’s good in my life and to provide self-love to myself I can easily fall off the bandwagon and become overly emotional and a sad state of mind.

What is your weekly fitness routine like?

Jogging outdoors at least once weekly (5km) and short distance jogs with my puppies. Karate twice a week. Hiking when I have time on the weekends. I also do a small full body circuit every other day that is strength based: I do free weight arm and back raises/presses, planks, push-ups, squats, lunges, leg lifts and sit-ups (I aim for every other day, but will be doing this every morning in  my new routine.)

How do you challenge yourself fitness wise?

karate, I was so nervous to try a martial art or any kind of “fighting” like sport. I had to find a lot of inner strength not to give up at one point because I felt like I wasn’t learning fast enough and wasn’t good enough. Also challenging long walks or hikes, the all day kind that leaves you sore for a few days. I love those. I used to do obstacle courses (which is when I first discovered Robyn Baldwin back in my blogging days) and hopefully next year I can do a couple, since this year was the buckle down and save money I wasn’t able to participate in any.

What are you daily/weekly nutrition habits that keep you well nourished?

I make sure to drink water right away when I wake up. Eat a really healthy breakfast such as a smoothie with plenty of fruits and fortified almond milk in it. One way I try to make sure what I eat is healthy I make it. Even down to homemade salad dressings. I don’t buy sugar at all, and if I’m feeling for something sweet I’ll use a tad of maple syrup (I’m Canadian eh ). I avoid processed foods and try to eat organic. During the summer I get a lot of organic veggies from the farm “Les Jardin Glenelm”. I would say my diet is primary fruits than veggies then beans and nuts, very occasional dairy (such as at someone house or a restaurant). The next step in my health journey is quitting caffeine and beverages alike.

What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?

I like to write before bed, I can’t say I journal because it isn’t consistent but I do write some things down if I have a busy mind. I also read before bed and plan for the next day, I have a to-do list and goal list all of the time. Also, I enjoy communicating or anything alike to my partner before bed and connect on things and ideas.

What are some pain points of being an Alpha Female that you have to problem solve for?

I really struggle with self-credit and like high fiving myself if I’ve done well, I always find ways I could have done more or better. I suppose I’m a low key an overachiever like I want to accomplish so much and do it right now. And if I don’t I feel like it wasn’t good enough. I just need to reflect more on where I came from and how well I’ve done which is hard from time to time.

I think I struggle with on occasion how I want to tell the world that I am changing my life and help others but others don’t take it well especially in my past factory job (it’s a really negative environment). When people complain I typically chime in some kind of witty “you make it what it is” and it isn’t meant in a harsh way but I feel like I would get scowled for it. another example would be someone who would be hating their job/complaining and I will try to say something along the lines of ” you can quit and do what you love, you don’t have to work here the rest of your life” and they will lash back with an anger look like “yes I have to, back laugh.” This pains me in ways, I want to help others I really do, I have a big heart and I see so many who hate their life and when I’ve tried to help I’ve backlash from it. I still haven’t gotten a solution for this, except I try not to blame myself and rather try to be compassionate towards them in understanding why they may be like this.

What is your definition of happiness?

It’s taken me a long time to figure this out, and I’m not sure if I’ve gotten the key to it yet. But I believe happiness is a choice and it starts from within and you can’t find it or buy it or kiss it. Things and people can add to it, but it primarily starts with you. It’s an intangible object, it’s actually just a state of mind. But some of the things that add to my happiness circle are my puppies and lover and adventure while being healthy and creating a life I love.
