Alpha Female Friday – Heidi Cannon

Every Friday I am going to feature a woman that I adore. They exude all the qualities of an Alpha Female and I want to dig into their lives to get some nuggets of knowledge to help us all live happier, healthier lives balancing life & work.

Definition of an Alpha Female

An Alpha Female is a powerful and assertive woman. Her confidence is due to being an intelligent and intellectual problem-solver. Being an Alpha Female is a State of Mind based on choosing ambition and being proud of it. She strives for a happy and healthy work/life harmony.

Type A Alpha Females often come across as strong willed and selfish. When we stay true to our authentic selves and stay true to our mission we shine. A true Alpha Female puts the needs of herself first without sacrificing her principles or dignity. She fills up her cup or gas tank first so that she has enough energy for her friends, family, and coworkers. A true Alpha Female strives for synergy with the world around her. She wants a perfect work/life balance but knows that it requires being true to your priorities and what makes you happy. She is never complacent about striving for better and nurtures relationships with the people in her life.

Heidi Cannon is a professional aesthetician, fitness competitor & WBFF (World Beauty, Fitness & Fashion) Pro Athlete, sponsored athlete with Magnum Nutraceuticals, an app creator, dirt bike racer, holds a black belt in Karate and a belly dancer. Heidi launched Mrs. Cannon’s Baking app in 2014 to share her love of creating healthier baking options using protein powder.

How are you an Alpha Female?

I am an Alpha Female because I know what I want and I go after it. I always go after what I want.

What does your work / life harmony look like?

This is a tough one because sometimes it works perfectly and other times I feel like a bit of a chicken with my head cut off! For the most part I try to not over book or over plan for each day. I always write down my daily tasks that I want to achieve and if it doesn’t all get done that day I push it forward to the following days. Being discipline I think is key and just making yourself do it. I’m a big believer in being go go go but also taking breaks.

What are you most passionate about?

Ahhhh sooo many things lol But I would have to say being a motivator. Whether its baking clean recipes for others to incorporate into there diet or sharing fitness workout or dance ideas I love to motivate and try and bring a smile to everyone’s faces.

What are you daily health habits that keep your immune system boosted?

I take Primer packs (Magnum multivitamins) in the morning. I have started hot lemon tea in the mornings as well. I training on a regular basis, whether it’s hitting the gym, getting out on my dirt bike, dancing or just moving my body and getting a sweat on each day is key.

What is your weekly fitness routine like?

BUSY!

Monday to Sunday I do some sort of cardio.

Monday to Friday I weight train every day.

Tuesday & Weds Night I take dance classes!

Friday or Saturday Nights I will be out belly dancing

Sundays I dirt bike (motor cross) or snowboard or cycling or another activity of some sort with my husband

How do you challenge yourself fitness wise?

As a fitness competitor I’m trying to maintain my abs in my off season from competitions. Staying on point with my diet all the time, when there is no photo shoot or competition in the near future it’s harder to stay lean. When I’m at one in my own environment its a lot easier to say on track and create good healthy treats and meals. I believe and I know you’ll agree with me there has to be a happy medium and its finding that sweet spot. Having your cheats (Robyn says treats) and enjoying eating clean.

What are your daily habits for winding down at night and reducing stress?

Having a bath is the perfect end to the day. I also try and spend time with my husband catching up on sports highlights.

What are you daily/weekly nutrition habits that keep you well nourished?

It’s important for me to get lots of protein in my diet. I also try and drink water on a regular basis. This is always hard because I prefer coffee! I also try and stock up on veggies! I meal prep if I’m cooking for me and my husband. If I’m cooking for myself while he’s out of town on work then I’ll cook every day.

What are paint points of being an Alpha Female that you have to problem solve for?

I want to break stereo types! I love motorcycles, fast cars or anything with a motor and an engine and I love to belly dance! I love macho sports and being a girl.  I want to break stereo types with men and women. An Alpha Female knows what she likes and what she wants and just goes for it. I can ride my dirt bike all day then shower up and throw a nice dress and heels on.

What is your definition of happiness?

I think its enjoying the most out of every day, even if it’s the same day to day thing you always do (ie. work or training). Its finding the good in each day and trying to find the good in each person. Squeeze out the lemons and make lemonade!

It’s also about finding the one you love and can spend your every waking moment with and truly not get bored of them. I have found love with my husband and I have so much happiness with him.
